"The Cold Recording Sessions" ("Sessions") is the first release from rock singer/songwriter Brownie. His creed, "Life and love through melodic rock", perfectly describes what this musical soul records and carefully produces to sonic perfection.

Inspired by the sounds of Peter Gabriel, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder and Depeche Mode, every note, chord and word has a specific role and meaning that translates to pop/rock gems that truly stand out.

Brownie, a.k.a. Brian O'Donnell, has been a musician as far back as he can remember and chose to release this EP as a first taste for fans into his musical mind and spirit. "Sessions" is an interpretation of a series of songs written from the past year that demonstrates BrownieÕs versatility as an all-inclusive musician, songwriter and performer.

"Ghost", the first single from "Sessions", if full of driving acoustic guitar riffs and laid back rhythm tracks that provide the foundation for this tale of love lost. "Life", the opening track, is a song about reflection with a delicate melody that is accompanied by a hard-hitting rhythm track that provides just enough tension for the underlying message of hope.

On "Sessions", Brownie's voice shows a wide versatility from song to song going from soft-spoken heartbreak to grinding aggression with ease. He is a trained composer, multi-instrumentalist and trained engineer/producer and takes advantage of each of these unique sets of skills from beginning to end.

If you are into unrestricted and ever evolving music, Brownie will be the source of constant change and originality that your music collection needs.

More about Brownie:

"I believe there is beauty in writing songs that are uncomplicated and thoughtful, and I look at the people and events in my life as inspiration for the soundtrack I write."

After hearing his songs, you realize that these words only begin to describe what audiences everywhere are learning for themselves: Brownie is a formidable new force in modern music.

Born in rural Texas, Brownie was raised on Air Force bases around the world where he experienced diverse musical styles. But constantly moving made it difficult to maintain friendships. Often alone, he began playing piano on a toy keyboard to occupy himself. "It was my 'teddy bear'," he says, "I didn't really know what it was at first, I just liked making noise." That noise soon turned into mimicking songs on the radio in whichever country he was living at the time.

Growing up around the world definitely left its mark on Brownie's style. "I was so open as a kid to listening to all types of music which in turn schooled me in how to write interesting melodies regardless of genre. Living in the U.K. opened me up to a world of great rock and pop music not heard in the U.S." Still a teenager, Brownie decided to experiment with recording his own music using a synthesizer, guitar, drum machine and two boom boxes. "It was such a leap for me to move from playing acoustic guitar in church to composing, producing and recording my own songs in my bedroom. It gave me such a sense of accomplishment to push the limits of my skills and the rudimentary equipment." This confidence was realized and rewarded throughout high school as he won awards for his outstanding musicianship in multiple styles of music from classical to jazz to pop experimentation.

Brownie went on to study music at university. After graduating, he decided that the nomadic life was over and that there was only one choice for home: New York City. While attending the Institute of Audio Research, he landed an internship at the renowned Quad Studios and swiftly became part of music production history, working with such icons as Missy Elliott, Courtney Love, and Luther Vandross.

Through all this, Brownie sharpened his songwriting skills and developed his signature sound. Whether playing before raucous crowds in New York City or recording in his studio, Brownie is where he's always known he would end up: grounded and confident. He explains, "Music is for the soul. Listening to and creating music establishes a strong connection between me and others."

With a fascinating and worldly childhood behind him, full of great stories and memories, including how he got his name, Brownie's evolution is evident and inspiring. He's a promising new artist with an uncompromising sound. No wonder the music industry is taking notice. Once behind sound boards in the studios, Brownie is now front and center.
