"I have the credibility to sing about all aspects of life
from a very unique and pure perspective.”
- Brett Kimberlin of Epoxy

Brett Kimberlin, guitar and vocal, wrote all the songs on Nothing Else while incarcerated as a political prisoner by right-wing elements opposed to his First Amendment rights to speech and political activity. Many prisoner rights groups came to his rescue, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, American Civil Liberties Union and Families Against Mandatory Minimums, and he was released after several years of suffering. A portion of each album sale will be contributed to these four organizations.

Wade Matthews on bass, has been playing with Brett for over ten years and most recently toured the world with Nils Lofren, and has played with many top artists, including Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Robbie White on drums, has been compared to some of the best drummers ever. He was strongly influenced by John Bonham and Dave Grohl. He has been touring for years along the east coast and was the alt drummer of choice in the Washington DC punk scene.

The new album from the master of the atlernative. This collection of tunes is Brett Kimberlin's best work to date and once you hear it you will want to own it. This time out he's more serious and yet less intense than on the first album. It rocks hard and soft with melodies that imprint your psyche. His whine-ish vocals are an acquired taste that is easily acquired.

If you take the best of guitar based punk and garage rock, add vintage analog technology, replace the theatrics of most modern bands with the pain of being a real U.S. Government political prisoner, stir well, and you have Epoxy's Nothing Else -- the definition of rock for the 21st century.

"Killing Fields"

I wrote the song "Killing Fields" about the execution of Karla Faye Tucker, a young lady from Texas who turned her life around on death row and asked then-Governor George Bush for a commutation of her death sentence. Bush, in response, publicly made fun of her and let her die despite pleas from thousands of people, including the Pope. To remember Karla on the five-year anniversary of her death, Epoxy submitted a video of "Killing Fields" to MTV, which agreed to put it in heavy rotation. However, the war was just beginning and therefore MTV banned the video because it constituted an attack on the Commander in Chief. The Indie Music Video Festival, www.imvf.com, read about the banning and requested a copy of the video. In August of 2003, IMVF chose it as one of the top 25 indie videos in the world for that year, and it has been in the worldwide festival tour ever since. The video has also been shown at various death penalty conferences, including those of the ACLU and Amnesty International.

More about Epoxy

Epoxy is a three-piece band from the Washington, DC area. Brett Kimberlin writes the songs, sings, and plays guitar with Wade Matthews on bass and Andy Hamburger on drums. Epoxy’s critically acclaimed debut CD in 2002, Nothing Else, exploded on the music scene, and their Killing Fields video was named one of 2003’s top 25 indie videos. The band recently recorded another four-dozen songs, all analog, with veteran producer, Jeff Severson, and had rough mixes done by another renowned producer, Paul Mahern (John Mellenchamp, Iggy Pop etc). These are the songs that will make up their follow-up CD.

When Brett Kimberlin sings about angst, pain and suffering, you know its real because he has been there. The music is evolutionary and honest, and its clear message is freedom and to hell with the status quo. The music has come at the right time when the world is looking for a band that is unique and real, one that rejects the gung ho conservatism, corporatness and righteousness so prevalent today.

People will be able to connect to the feelings of alienation, psychological damage and conflict so out front in the music. Brett screams for a whole generation that has been left confused and drifting from the strange void in good music for far too long. There is a great story behind the music but the music itself, created in the depths of hell, is here to be shared with the world.

Reviews:

"Epoxy is the evolution of the last 20 years of rock, a mixture of garage, grunge and punk, stirred up with stellar musicianship. Killer band with intelligent lyrics and an assault of angst, energy and attitude. The frontman, Brett Kimberlin, is a former political prisoner who wrote all the songs while incarcerated, and he sings about alienation, anger, injustice and hope. This is the band that will change the direction of music for the next decade. Get ready, it will be a nice ride.- Kweevak.com
