| Having been in the music industry for 20 years, 9 years as a live performer and 11 years as a composer/producer and dj, Chicago born Gregory J. Bennett acquired an Ear for music from listening to his dad's jazz and r&b records. His ears were developed enough to discern rhythms, harmonies and melodies. As he got older, he became increasely interested in performing music. He started playing the drums at the early age of 7. 4 years later, the family moved to New Orleans and he immediately became part of the various music communities. He joined the school band and jumped right into performing and gigging with local cover bands. 7 years later his band was given the opportunity to be the opening act for major recording artist, Chaka Khan. Throughout the last 11 years as a composer/producer/dj, he has collaborated with talented male and female vocalists. Those collaborations led to an award for being one of the top10 indie track producers at the 1st annual Listen & Exchange Awards in Houston, TX. The Groove Generator sound is dance/hiphop/funk with pop sensibilities. "I am the main ingredient because of my role as the music programmer and producer. I program various parts of each song/track using various music software packages. Also using 2 turntables, a mixer and beat machines. My sidekicks are rapper & dj, Jamal Richardson and Tara Marion on vocals" says Gregory. |
