More about Lynne Robyn
The stunning debut album, Red Bird in Snow, brings together the exceptional gifts of singer-composer-lyricist Lynne Robyn and the prodigious talents of producer Jon Herington, currently the lead guitarist for the legendary group Steely Dan on their Two Against Nature world tour and album. On Red Bird in Snow, Lynne Robyn and Herington have gathered an ensemble group of New York's finest musicians: bassist Zev Katz (James Taylor, Shawn Colvin, Jewel), pianist Ted Baker (Steely Dan), drummer Ben Wittman (The Story-Jonatha Brooke and Jennifer Kimball), among others.
Lynne Robyn, who's singing voice is distinguished by its tonal purity, passion, expressiveness, and refined musicality, is an acclaimed veteran of New York's downtown music scene. Musically, she grew up on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village, where she's consistently packed clubs with loyal fans drawn to her earthy, deep, soulful music. The product of formal classical training in voice, keyboards and composition and of a wilder education on the streets of Boston and New York, Lynne's music has an edgy, rock-meets-bone profundity.
Lynne has sung her songs on the soundtracks of major film releases, off-Broadway plays, on concert hall stages, and on television and radio.
Her distinct, restless musical style sometimes blends, and at other times wanders through, the sophisticated chordal structures of jazz, the lyrical depths of folk, and the pure melodic, timeless joy of straight-ahead pop music. In her club gigs and recordings, no listener is left unmoved or unchanged by Lynne Robyn's deeply personal love songs, her surrealist ballads, and playful, shrewd observations of living and loving on planet earth.
