| | Celebration What For For this album, Hale travelled to Croatia to record at Rocco & Partner Studios in Zagreb. 15 days recorded and mixed in September and October of 2003. Using local musicians there (except one song with ex-Blind Doctor and long time collaborator Alain LeCloirec) the new album features Terry Lee on vocals, guitars, Dobro, harmonica, keyboards, percussion and banjo. Also contributing are long time session musicians Sven Biuc on double bass and drummer Tin Ostres, "Celebration What For" showcases 10 self-penned tunes from Hale. The songs are vocally centered, sparse, acoustic oriented but ensemble driven and arranged. Produced by TLH and Davor Rocco.

| | | The Blue Room When Glitterhouse talked to Terry about which direction his new album should take everyonel agreed that it should be sparse recording, with hardly any other instruments than his battered guitar and a dobro. Something that sounds like his solo-shows. It was somewhat fitting that the Texas-born musician had already written a bunch of songs that dealt with a recently departed lover, which almost cried out for sublte arrangements. Chris Eckman of the Walkabouts, who had already produced a few records, shared their soundvision and even took it a step further. The ocassional fiddle, steel or bass got cancelled and thus Terry found himself in the studio with just his guitars. The session lasted six days, the first two nothing got done due to some bad astrological karma. Day 3 and 4 were magic, though, and Terry played his record live, guitars and vocals in one take, no overdubs. Day 5 and 6 were reserved for mixing. ”The Blue Room” is Terry at his best. Just a bunch of great songs, his unusual guitar technique, a well-worn, husky voice and a warm, atmospheric production is all it needs to come up with a classic. Terry sings about a love gone wrong and one can almost feel that it tore him apart, the tears, the disappointment and the wounds that slowly heal. Next to “Tornado Alley” (which again is highly recommended) this is Terry´s masterpiece. Cherish it.

| | Tornado Alley Terry´s third album, which was released in early `95, was recorded by John Keane in Athens/Georgia, a studio that hosted top artists like R.E.M., Nanci Griffith, Vic Chesnutt and countless others. Terry wanted this album to be more reflective of his solo-performances and thus the songs feature his voice, his incredible guitar playing and some subtle use of other instruments, most of them played by John Keane.

| | | Old Hand On a spring tour in 1994 Terry was playing the town of Concarneau in France where he met a band called The Blind Doctors. They covered Hale´s "Land Of Plenty" and a friendship started to blossom which led to jam sessions, home-recordings and even some French touring. Writing songs especially for the Blind Doctors collaboration proved to be a nice contrast for both Hale and the band, as the Doctors favour a more traditional Celtic and English brand of rock and roll. During the summer of ´97 Hale and the Doc's recorded a more serious effort, the results being 6 songs that were submitted to Glitterhouse Records along with 15 exhibits of Hale´s more traditional singer-songwriter material. The decision was made to record an electric record in Prague. The sessions took place between July and October of 1998 with both Alain and Terry Lee in the producer´s seat. Terry Lee's vocals and accoustic guitar work remains the focal point of the music, but with Franck Betermin`s driving electric rhythms, Alano´s lead guitar, and the steady backbeats of Jean-Phi and Ben there is little doubt that this is a Rock`n´Roll ensemble.

| | Frontier Model Second album and his first for Glitterhouse. It was released in Febuary `94 and was produced by his friend Chris Eckman of Walkabouts fame.
"...it´s truly a fully-realized gem. The arrangements really bring the songs to life (various Walkabouts and other friends help out) while remaining subtle enough to keep the intimate singer/songwriter feel intact. And Terry Lee´s guitar playing has a style and impact all its own - check the slide on `Strange Love´". (Rocket)

Terry Lee Hale - The "Unofficial" Biography
I am a guitar playing, singing songwriter. I play nylon, 6 and 12 string guitars and the Dobro. My influences lean heavily in the country and blues domain but of course rock & roll is mashed up in there as well. I pretty much have my own style these days if one can really say that kind of thing. I mostly work with fingerpicks and almost exclusively in open tunings with all of the guitars. I have 10 Cd's released in Europe, most of them on the German Glitterhouse label. I tour over all of Europe as a solo act but I've also had full Euro-tours with electric bands from the Czech Republic, France and America. My latest project is with 3 other American songwriters (Joseph Parsons, Todd Thibaud, Chris Burroughs,) and we call ourselves Hardpan. Our first CD was released in July 2002 on the European Blue Rose label. My newest solo release is also on Blue Rose and was released in March 2004. This record was recorded and mixed with Croatian musicians in Zagreb.
On the personal side: I was born an army brat in 1953 in San Antonio, Texas and, as is usually the case, ended up in 10 schools in 10 different cities. After high school in Yakima, Washington I set out for California and continued from there to travel in the States learning to play guitar and how to write songs. I have worked as a carpenter, truck driver, farm and ranch hand, cook, laborer, bar tender, booking agent and various other occupations to support myself, my daughter (I was a single parent) and my music. I started playing guitar seriously around 14 years of age and I bought my first acoustic guitar around that time as well. I have lived and traveled extensively in America and since 1993 (the year my first CD was released) in Europe as well. I currently keep a house in Seattle where I have lived since 1984 but most of my time is spent writing and touring in Europe. While in Europe I reside in France. My daughter is now 25 years old and I'm the proud grandfather of their 5-year-old girl. Currently I enjoy reading, writing, movies, chess, good food and drink, live music and friends. I still love to travel and for the past 8 years I have been fortunate enough to make a living as a performing and recording musician.
