(Vul’pine) adj. of or pertaining to the fox; seductive like; artful; cunning; clever.
The Tennessee based Vulpine is a very intense band. Hatch -Vocals/guitars, Billy Lupino -Guitars, Rum Brown - Bass/vocals, Sean Alexander - Guitars and Sean Fuller - Drums are the five talents who give this band directness and a sense of purpose. There is no wasted time, not in the lyrics, not in the tracks and not in their performance. They are what they say are: a band presenting accessible music with a creative edge, balancing originality and solid musicianship.
Formed in 2004 Hatch and Rum fulfilled the promise "no matter what we stick together" made when they were 15. Billy was next to join after being seen playing at a local club in Jackson TN. His presence and technique seemed to come so naturally Hatch and Rum knew immediately he was their guy. When the band was first put together a local friend came in to fill the role as drummer and the writing of Channels began. Originally designed as a four piece the weight of playing rhythm and singing became apparent to Hatch. Hatch was asked to be a judge at a local battle of the bands, where he first spotted Sean Alexander. According to Hatch, "he worked the crowd over like no other, he was perfect for the part". Finally when the original drummer left to pursue a new project the search for “the” drummer began. Sean Alexander had known of a drummer from Nashville who came highly recommended by many locals. After contacting Sean Fuller aka "Puffy", and having him come in for an audition, there was no doubt in anyone's mind this was the guy for the job. His professional attitude, work ethic and talent made him the missing link for what the band was looking for, even from the very beginning.
The name Vulpine comes from that person we've all been inspired by in our lives, in one way or another. The term vulpine describes who this person is and what they mean. Everyone has a Vulpine, a person who can seduce and inspire you. That one person you'll love your whole life no matter what, transfixed to your heart forever.
Setting Vulpine apart from other bands is their ability to make their audience part of the music. This is accomplished with lyrics that come from personal experience. Whether providing a solution, providing hope, or giving the sense of ”I’m not alone”, these lyrics speak directly to each listener. according to Hatch , the goal lyrically is to provide “Resolution...it's something we all want. Whether it's the good times or the bad reflected on lyrically, learning from these experiences makes us stronger”. The feeling of unity, both within the band and also with the audience is apparent everytime they hit the stage, they feel like a band should feel, unstoppable! Vulpine feeds off the energy of their audience, and never fails to give 100%. They have the ability make each person in the audience feel as if the performance was just for them.
Vulpine has been working behind the scenes writing and recording their debut album Channels. The eleven song full length CD is due to be released May 5, 2005. The album speaks for itself through its urgency, infectious hooks and compelling lyrics that give the songs the ability to transcend a Modern Rock genre label to compete on Adult and Mainstream Top 40 charts.
The buzz within the Industry, as well as their ever growing fan base is unmistakable. Vulpine is just the right dose for what’s to come and its elusive sound is about to steal its way to the top of the music scene.
